Dr. Tiwari as a professional statistician never liked pigeonhole service and always welcomed challenging assignments which prompted him to move in the National Cancer Institute (NCI) of the National Institute of Health (NIH) as a mathematical statistician in the year 2000. At NIC, he oversaw the biostatistics grants portfolio, and contributed to methodological research on modeling cancer incidence, mortality, and survival trends.
True to his character, Dr. Tiwari once again took a new role as an Associate Director for Science and Policy in the Immediate Office of Biostatistics, Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER), FDA in 2008, where he led development of the likelihood ratio test (LRT) for signal detection for large drug safety databases, that is available here, was implemented in openFDA. Dr. Tiwari moved to the Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH), FDA, in 2016 and served as Director for the Division of Biostatistics in 2016, until his retirement on December 31, 2020.
Whatever challenge Dr. Tiwari takes up, his interest in statistics is immense. The fact that he has over 200 publications to his credit speaks volumes about his curiosity and enthusiasm in statistics and biostatistics. He is now supporting a private industry with his strong domain experience in building statistical methodology for Fortune 500 companies. I am an Associate Professor at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, NYU, and in the Department of Radiology, NYU Langone Health, where I'm also the Director of Machine Learning Research. My interests lie in advancing AI research, focusing on deep learning models and AI applications in Healthcare.
Before NYU, I was a Co-founder and VP of AI at Imagen Technologies: a well funded startup transforming Healthcare using AI. Before co-founding Imagen, I was a research scientist at Facebook AI Research (FAIR), working on understanding natural language. I graduated with a Ph.D., in computer science from New York University working with Prof. Yann LeCun. My thesis proposed a first-of-its-kind neural network model for relational regression, and was a conceptual foundation for a startup for modeling residential real estate prices. Following my Ph.D. I joined AT&T Labs–Research as a scientist in the machine learning department. I focused on building novel deep learning models for speech recognition, natural language processing, and computer vision. Most recently, he has worked on the development of enterprise cloud platforms backed by data warehouses such as Google Big Query, Snowflake and Azure Synapse.
Large U.S. Commercial and Residential Valuation and Construction real estate companies have tasked Neeraj with building and unlocking value from their data assets. He offers the ability to distill complex problems into actionable strategies for stakeholders at the corporate or local office-level. He is also skilled in identifying and implementing data science workflows that drive transformation for real estate companies. Prior to focusing on the real estate industry, Neeraj has worked in various analytical capacities supporting companies in the Fintech and credit card industries. Mr. Tiwari holds a M.S. in Business Analytics from Fordham University and a B.S. in Economics and Applied Statistics from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. Anand is a hands-on Technologist, a so-called innovative CIO who always thinks out of the box. As CIO, a key role played includes determining how Technology and Data is used and managed in the operations of a company. He has enjoyed an eventful career of where he exhibited professional brilliance predominantly in the areas of Service Delivery, Customer Support, Information Security, Application Development and Infrastructure Integration.
